Dear Members and Visitors,

I hope you are all well and able to socialise a little more now.

The Committee have  held a meeting to discuss the way forward in the light of all that’s happening with the Coronavirus in the present situation.  We were unanimous in the decision to suspend all winter meetings until the New Year at least, which is broadly in line with most similar societies in the area.  The ‘safe’ directives we would have to follow make it impossible to hold an enjoyable/informative evening, which is one of the main aims of the society.

All of our events which have been cancelled for this year will hopefully be carried over to 2021.  Please keep your 2020 Show Schedules as we aim to use them next year.  Make a note of the show dates: Spring Show April 10th 2021 /Summer Show August 7th 2021.

We also plan to carry the Wisely trip and the garden visits over to next year. The dates will be announced in due course.

All subscriptions will be suspended until we can hold our meetings again

We  will inform you of the latest position after our next committee meeting in November.

Best Wishes to you all,

Lynda Ashby & Committee

Horsham & District Horticultural Society

Horsham & District Horticultural Society was founded in 1945 to promote an interest in horticulture and to encourage gardening in Horsham and the surrounding district.  During the winter months from October to March we hold meetings on alternate Tuesdays starting at 7.30pm, at the Brighton Road Baptist Church, Brighton Road ,  Horsham, RH13 5BD.  The venue has disabled access

Our winter meetings consist of illustrated lectures on various aspects of gardening, slides of visits to famous gardens at home and abroad and occasional practical demonstrations.  You are more than welcome to our meetings.

In the summer we run coach outings, and we also arrange evening visits to local gardens usually starting at 6.00pm.  Members travel by car to these locations and members without their own transport are encouraged to seek a lift from other members.

We run two flower shows a year, a Spring Show in late March /early April for spring flowers, and a Summer Show in August.   Members are invited to exhibit their flowers, fruit, vegetables, cookery, handicrafts and photographs.

Members of the public are cordially invited to come and view our shows during the afternoons of show days and to see what we have to offer to potential members, but exhibiting in the shows is currently limited to our members.  So you need to join if you wish to exhibit.

Our yearly membership subscription for all this is £15 per person or £25 for a couple at the same address
