3 October – Paul Dalby – Dahlias
Welcome back and subs night, followed by a mini presentation on seasonal care for dahlias by our own expert, prize-winning member, Paul.
17 October – Lyndsey – Wimblehurst Chocolate
Lyndsey will be giving us a talk and a demonstration on truffle making. She will explain the process of making the truffles and will be bringing ready-made truffles with her and demonstrating how they are coated and finished. There will be an opportunity for a few people to have a go at this process on the evening.
31 October – Jean Griffin – Question Time
Local well-known expert and broadcaster on Radio Sussex, Jean is coming along to help us with our gardening problems in the style of a question and answer session. Members will be encouraged to share their success stories – and failures!
14 November – Ian Everest – The Land Army
Members so enjoyed Ian’s last presentation that we’ve booked this highly recommended talk.
28 November – Debbie Wells – The Aldingbourne Trust
Debbie will be giving us a talk and showing some slides of work the Trust does. One of their projects involves providing the floral containers and hanging baskets for many railway stations, public places and also Horsham town centre. The Aldingbourne Trust supports people with learning disabilities and Debbie will tell us about the projects they have completed and plans for the future.
12 December – Christmas Social – Manor Theatre Group
Following the success of last year’s entertainment, we have booked the theatre group to entertain us by singing seasonal and popular songs. There will also be a table quiz, a seasonal raffle, food and soft drinks. This will be one of the highlights of our year – not to be missed!
9 January – AGM and Review of the Year
Our ever popular AGM! This will be followed by a review of the year’s outings/shows, then a presentation on next year’s proposed coach trip.
23 January – Jim Buttress – The Royal Parks
Well-known TV celebrity gardener from “The Big Allotment Challenge” as well as many other appearances, Jim will entertain us with a talk on the Royal Parks. An entry fee will be payable for this presentation – members £2, non-members £4.
6 February – Jake Everett – Horsham: An Urban Wilderness
Many of you will have lived and worked in Horsham for a number of years and not viewed Horsham asan Urban Wilderness. Tonight’s talk will enthuse you to look into your own gardens as well as the wonderful nature reserves and parks in the Horsham district to find what incredible creatures are living amongst us, despite the pressure from increased housing and disturbance. From rare dragonflies to impressive new arrivals, this evening guarantees to make you proud of where you live!
20 February – Mark Saunders – Photography
Our programme seems incomplete without a visit from Mark. This year he will be passing on his garden photography skills after being judged a 2nd/3rd place achiever in many prestigious photographic competitions, including RHS.
6 March – Inter-Society Quiz
It is our turn to host this event where our neighbouring Horticultural Societies will be battling to take last year’s winner’s trophy from Horsham. All very welcome. Refreshments in the form of food and soft drinks will be served. Donations from members will be much appreciated. There will also be a Grand Raffle.
20 March – Mark Howard – Small Space Garden Design
Mark, a garden designer and lecturer at Brinsbury College, will be showing us how to make the best of small space and patio gardens.
