2022 Summer Evening Garden Visits

We have encountered many difficulties trying to arrange Coach Outings this year and have decided to abandon organised coach trips during 2022. We have evening visits for your enjoyment listed below.

Our three evening garden visits for this year are detailed below. As usual, all visits are on Tuesday evenings, to start at 6.00pm, and sunflower signs will be displayed where appropriate.

Tuesday 10th May 2022

BLACK BARN Steyning Road, West Grinstead, Horsham, RH13 8LR Jane Gates

Black Barn Garden was designed and planted in January, 2018. The site was cleared and only the mature trees remained. A hedgerow separating the garden from the field was removed and a large pond has been created in the southwest corner. A large gravel garden was created to the south of the barn and a terrace laid. The existing terrace at the back was increased and a large bed was created. There is wheelchair access over the grass only.

Directions: Take the A24 south, through Buck Barn crossroads, and turn off left at the B2135 towards West Grinstead and Partridge Green. Continue for 1 mile, passing Park Lane and the Catholic Church on the left. Continue round two bends and Black Barn is on the left. Car sharing would be appreciated.

The donation is £8, which includes the refreshments and goes to the NGS. Jane will accompany us in a tour of the garden.

Tuesday 21st June 2022

WARNHAM NATURE RESERVE Warnham Road, Horsham RH12 2RA Jake Everitt

The Reserve has a new Discovery Hub which opened last October. The site is a haven for wildlife and has bird hides overlooking a 17 acre Mill Pond. It has walking trails through meadows and woodland and boardwalks over the marshy grassland, plus a woodpecker hide. The new Discovery Trail is designed for visitors of all ages and follows the paths and boardwalks that surround the Reserve’s Mill Pond.

Directions: Take the North Parade/Warnham Road towards the Warnham Roundabout. The Nature Reserve is well signposted on the right hand side of the road. There is ample parking.

There is a Donation of £3 going to the Friends of Warnham Nature Reserve and Jake will take us on a tour of the Reserve. We will have refreshments outside afterwards if it is fine.
