2022

11th January 2022:  AGM and Quiz Night

We will have our usual short AGM followed by tea and cake.  We will also have a quiz, and provide details of this year’s evening visits and outing.

25th January 2022:  Ian Everest – Shepherds of the South Downs

We welcome back Ian Everest.  Central to Sussex farming in past centuries, and to the economy of the area, were the thousands of sheep that grazed on the Downs. The shepherds, who spent their solitary lives caring for their flocks, were a familiar part of the local countryside. Ian tells us their story.

8th February 2022:  David Bridges – The Warnham Butterfly Project

A beautiful illustrated talk by David about his work creating and managing habitats for butterflies – and other wildlife – in Warnham, and how we can do more to conserve butterflies in the ‘ordinary landscapes’ which occupy a large part of West Sussex.

22nd February 2022:  Chris Stewart – The Good, Bad, Ugly and Beautiful

Inhabitants of your garden are not plain and boring. What is lurking outside? What new pests are coming your way? Some are the gardener’s friend and a joy to espy but be prepared to be scared!

8th March 2022:  Inter Society Quiz.

It is our turn to host this year’s event where our neighbouring Horticultural Societies will be battling to win the trophy. Refreshments will be served and we will have our usual raffle.
