Spring Show 2026

2026 Spring Plant & Flower Show

Spring Show Report

Horsham Horticultural Society held its spring show on Sunday 29th March at North Heath Hall, where the the hall was filled with exhibits of spring plants, flowers, handicrafts and cookery.

It had been perfect spring weather to bring out the blooms, despite the very high winds of the week prior to the show, and the exhibits on offer reflected this.  In addition to viewing the entries, our members and visitors also enjoyed tea and home-made cakes, a grand raffle, and a good selection of plants and produce for sale.

All classes attracted a good number of entries; including the photographic categories with some stunning photography on display.  The Reg Smith cup for the most points in this category was won by Julia Stevenson.

David Hide, as President, thanked all those who made the show happen, from Committee members, to helpers, cake makers, people who donated goods, as well as the members and guests for coming along and making the show a success.  He expressed his delight at having been asked to be President for the year, and hoped the Society would continue to flourish for many years to come. He awarded the cups as follows:

Stanley cup best exhibit in daffodils – Paul Dalby.

Irene Crackston cup best exhibit pot or bowl of bulbs – Sally Birchmore.

Spring floral cup – Sally Birchmore.

Woods Mill cup – Alison Best-Dufour.

Domestic Trophy for most points in Domestic classes – Sue Hammond.

Butchers Trophy for the best handicraft exhibit – Lynn Roberts.

The Weald cup for the most points in the whole show was jointly won by Paul Dalby and Helen Hinvest.

The Jubilee Cup, which is awarded at our last evening meeting in March, is given for the most points for items bought to our winter meetings.  This year the cup was won by Lynn Roberts.

Prior to awarding the cups, David presented an RHS Recognition Certificate to Geoffrey Kirk for his support to the Society over many years.
